A live broadcast incident occurred during the 2026 SBS Gayo Daejeon SUMMER, temporarily bringing the show to a halt. The broadcast flow was disrupted after the MCs appeared to struggle with their scripts, and production staff were eventually seen rushing onto the stage to resolve the situation, leaving viewers disappointed.
Held on August 9th at KINTEX Exhibition Center 2 in Ilsan, Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, the 2026 SBS Gayo Daejeon SUMMER featured a total of 28 acts, including Stray Kids, ATEEZ, Red Velvet, RIIZE, and NCT WISH. The live broadcast was hosted by RIIZE’s Sungchan, Hearts2Hearts’ Ian, and NCT WISH’s Sion.
The problem occurred while the hosts were introducing the next performing artist. As the stage transition was underway, Sion suddenly stopped speaking, while Sungchan also appeared flustered and looked around. Ian likewise seemed unaware of when the broadcast was supposed to resume, leaving all three hosts visibly confused.
Amid the silence, an off-camera voice saying, “Shall we try that one more time?” was accidentally broadcast. Eventually, production staff were hurriedly sent onto the stage, where they were seen checking Sion’s cue sheet and confirming the script as the incident unfolded live on air.
The broadcast eventually returned to normal after the production team coordinated the situation, but viewers were far from impressed. Shortly after the show, online comments criticized the hosts’ lack of preparation, with reactions including, “Did they not rehearse at all beforehand?”, “It was embarrassing to watch them hold the scripts but still fail to keep the broadcast moving,” and, “Are they smiling even after making mistakes?” There was also criticism of the production team’s decision to assemble the hosting lineup. Some viewers pointed out that the MCs were largely relatively inexperienced, rookie-level idols and that the lineup consisted only of members affiliated with a certain agency, raising concerns over the lack of a seasoned host capable of keeping a live broadcast running smoothly.
However, some viewers defended the hosts, arguing that unexpected incidents and technical problems can occur at any time during a live broadcast and that it would be excessive to place all the blame on inexperienced MCs.
