Prosecutors have asked a South Korean court to fine a 41-year-old woman 10 million won (about $7,100) over allegations that she stalked actor Hwang Jung Min. The request was made on August 11 during the final hearing at the Goyang Branch of the Uijeongbu District Court.
The woman, identified only as A, is accused of violating the Act on Punishment of Stalking Crimes.
Prosecutors said they sought the higher fine because the alleged behavior continued for a long time and involved a large number of attempts to contact Hwang. They also pointed to threatening messages that A allegedly posted on social media during the legal proceedings. Hwang’s side has asked the court to impose a severe punishment.
A had previously received a summary order requiring her to pay 3 million won (about $2,100) in February. She objected to that decision and requested a formal trial, which led to the latest hearing.
During the hearing, A continued to deny that the situation was simple, one-sided stalking. She admitted that some of her actions were wrong but argued that the communication between her and Hwang was not entirely one-way.
“I am not saying that everything I did over the past two years was right,” A said in her final statement, SBS reported.
She added that there were times when her emotions became difficult to control and she acted in ways she should not have. However, A rejected the idea that she had simply followed Hwang for two years without any response from him.

Hwang Jung Min Stalking Accused Denies
Her lawyer also argued that it had not been clearly proven that Hwang consistently refused all communication. The attorney claimed that although Hwang had at one point asked A not to contact him, there were later occasions when he contacted her first or responded to her messages.
A asked the court to review the case records closely. She specifically asked the judge to consider who contacted whom first, what was said during their conversations and what promises were made.
Prosecutors also questioned A about messages that suggested suicide and a file containing a will that she sent to Hwang. They asked about photos of a dead cat, tissues stained with blood and messages sent to Hwang’s underage son.
A acknowledged sending the materials but said she did not intend to frighten Hwang. She claimed they were meant to explain her condition and bring their relationship to an end.
According to AllKPop, Hwang’s side first filed a complaint against A in August last year. A has also filed a separate civil lawsuit seeking more than 200 million won (about $141,500) from Hwang.
The court is scheduled to announce its verdict at 10 a.m. on September 8.
