Cha Eun-woo may have his next acting project lined up after completing his mandatory military service, with his agency confirming that the cooking romance drama ‘Seorabeol Life’ is currently under consideration.
Fantagio told OSEN on August 11 that “‘Seorabeol Life’ is one of the projects” Cha Eun-woo is reviewing. No casting decision has been made yet, but the news has already drawn attention because the drama comes from director Jang Tae-yu, who directed the hit series ‘Bon Appétit, Your Majesty.’
‘Seorabeol Life’ is described as a romance story built around cooking. Reports also suggest that it could exist in the same fictional universe as ‘Bon Appétit, Your Majesty.’ However, it is not being described as a second season of the earlier drama.
‘Bon Appétit, Your Majesty’ became a major success last year, reaching a peak nationwide rating of 17.1%, ChosunBiz reported.
Its strong performance has added interest to Jang Tae-yu’s next project, especially with Cha Eun-woo now being considered for a possible leading role.
If Cha Eun-woo joins the cast, ‘Seorabeol Life’ would become an important part of his return to acting after military service. His latest drama, Netflix’s ‘The Wonder Fools,’ was released after he enlisted.
Cha Eun-woo Files Tax Appeal
Cha Eun-woo has built a large following through dramas such as ‘True Beauty,’ ‘A Good Day to Be a Dog,’ and ‘Wonderful World.’
A cooking-focused romance would give him another type of role to explore as he begins planning the next stage of his career. His possible comeback, however, comes while he is also dealing with an ongoing tax dispute.
In January, Cha Eun-woo was reportedly issued a tax assessment exceeding 20 billion won by the National Tax Service. According to AllKPop, his final tax payment was reported to be around 13 billion won.
At the time, he said, “I respect the National Tax Service’s procedures and results. To prevent further confusion, I have paid all related taxes.”
Earlier this month, Cha Eun-woo filed an appeal with the Tax Tribunal over the tax assessment. Fantagio explained that he filed the appeal “according to the procedures prescribed by law to receive a legal determination.”
Cha Eun-woo enlisted in the Army’s military band in July 2025. He is scheduled to complete his service and be discharged on January 27, 2027.
