BIGBANG will release its first new song in four years on August 19 as the group celebrates its 20th debut anniversary with a large-scale festival across Seoul’s Jamsil area.
YG Entertainment confirmed that the group’s new digital single, “BiiiG,” will be released at 6 p.m. KST on August 19. The song’s title highlights the first letter of BIGBANG’s name and will arrive on the same day as special anniversary events at Seokchon Lake.
The celebration, organized through a partnership between YG Entertainment and Lotte Department Store, will run from August 14 to 23 around Lotte Town Jamsil, AllKPop reported.
Instead of focusing on one pop-up store, the project will connect Seokchon Lake, Lotte World Mall, and Jamsil Avenue L through exhibitions, food, merchandise, and fan activities.
One of the main attractions will be a nighttime lighting event at Seokchon Lake. With support from Songpa District, lighting inspired by BIGBANG’s official “Bang Bong” light stick will decorate the east lake and waterfront stage.
On August 19, the group’s debut anniversary, the special lighting will begin at exactly 8:19 p.m. A roughly five-meter-tall “Bang Bong Crown” will also be placed at the waterfront stage, giving fans and visitors a special photo spot.
Lotte World Mall Celebrates BIGBANG
Lotte World Mall will also bring BIGBANG’s 20-year history into its food and shopping areas. Bakery brands including What a Bread, Drunken Dough, and No Bad Vibes will offer limited anniversary products.
Around 40 restaurants in the mall will also use special 20th-anniversary napkins.
Fans can take part in the “BIGBANG TO COSMOS” project on the fifth-floor bridge connecting Jamsil Avenue L and Lotte World Mall. Visitors can leave messages for BIGBANG, which will be changed into the format of the Arecibo Message and displayed through media art.
According to ChosunBiz, at the sixth-floor Art Hall of Jamsil Avenue L, an immersive exhibition will look back at BIGBANG’s 20-year career.
It will feature archive videos, concert behind-the-scenes footage, unreleased photos, and a listening area where visitors can enjoy the group’s music. An MD shop will also operate at Lotte World Mall, offering limited-edition items made for the anniversary.
Lotte Department Store said the project is designed to welcome both local fans and international visitors. Marketing chief Park Sang-woo said the event could give domestic and overseas customers a new way to experience K-pop content.
