Zheng Shuang has reportedly become extremely thin, with a hunched posture and a visibly poor complexion, leaving some observers concerned about her health.
Zheng Shuang has been away from China’s entertainment industry for years following a series of major personal scandals, but news about the former actress continues to attract public attention. On August 15, Chinese media outlet 163 reported that the once-popular actress had recently been spotted at a U.S. airport. She was reportedly dressed casually, appearing withdrawn and alone as she pulled a large suitcase behind her. According to bystanders, Zheng Shuang now looks extremely thin, with a hunched back and a pale, gaunt complexion that made her appear unwell. The report described the actress, who was born in 1991, as having lost the glamour and presence she once had as a celebrity after leaving the spotlight.

According to 163, Zheng Shuang’s circumstances reportedly did not improve significantly after she turned to businessman Ye Yanwei for financial support and became his mistress. Her current troubles allegedly involve not only financial difficulties but also substantial debts and legal problems stemming from scandals in the past.
Sources cited by the outlet claimed that Zheng Shuang still owes business partners around 120 million yuan. After allegedly failing to repay the money, she was reportedly placed on a list of debtors considered untrustworthy in China. This has allegedly prevented her from returning to the country for the past five years. If she were to return, she could potentially face legal consequences, according to the report. Zheng Shuang reportedly once asked her wealthy partner for help paying off her debts, but he refused. Ye Yanwei is said to provide only a limited amount of financial support for Zheng Shuang and her children’s living expenses in the United States. Because she reportedly depends on him financially, Zheng Shuang is said to be careful not to upset him and has little choice but to adapt to his wishes.

Zheng Shuang reportedly began a relationship with Ye Yanwei in 2024. According to the reports, she agreed to become his partner and have a child with the businessman after finding herself in increasingly difficult circumstances, with her assets depleted, no employment opportunities and creditors allegedly pursuing her in the United States. Ye Yanwei has also been described in the reports as a wanted economic criminal who could be arrested if he returned to China.
In 2021, Zheng Shuang’s once-successful career collapsed after her former boyfriend Zhang Heng accused her of using a surrogate and allegedly discussing the termination of a seven-month pregnancy, as well as abandoning their twins after their birth. The controversy triggered widespread public outrage, with the allegations raising serious legal and ethical concerns. Not long afterward, Zheng Shuang became embroiled in a separate tax evasion scandal. Chinese authorities subsequently ordered her removal from the entertainment industry, effectively bringing the actress’s career to an abrupt end.
