A popular K-Pop idol spoke unexpectedly about the differences between her dreams and reality as she entered into her 30s.
On August 5th, a video ttitled “Anyway, I Came to Talk,” was released on the YouTube channel Okiki Okk. In the video, Gabi, Ji Ye Eun, Heize, and Chungha honestly shared their thoughts about being in their 30s.
Chungha candidly confessed the gap between her dreams and reality after turning 30. She said, “When I was really young, I thought by the time I was 30, I’d have a house, a car, and a lot of dating experience, but I don’t have any of that.” She added, “I thought I’d at least have a house, a car, or a boyfriend,” revealing her honest feelings.
Hearing this, Gabi recalled her impression of Chungha’s house when she visited in the past. She said, “When I was a dancer, I went to Chungha’s house, and it was so nice,” adding, “It was the house I dreamed of for my 30s. It was the home of a successful woman.”
She then shared, “I said, ‘This is so nice, I’m so jealous,’ and Chungha said, ‘Unnie, I can’t live here.’ I didn’t understand at the time, but now I totally get that situation. You’re living in a nice place but can’t afford to buy it,” expressing a bittersweet feeling.
Born in 1996, Chungha turned 30 this year. She gained significant popularity and finished fourth on Mnet’s audition program Produce 101 with her strong dance skills and charming appearance. Afterwards, she debuted in 2016 as part of the project girl group I.O.I, producing hit songs such as “Very Very Very,” “Whatta Man,” and “Downpour,” and continued active promotions.
After I.O.I’s activities ended, she officially debuted as a solo artist in 2017 with her first mini-album “Hands On Me.” In May of this year, to mark I.O.I’s 10th debut anniversary, the members reunited and released the new song “Suddenly,” which topped music charts and music shows.
