V connected with fans through a Weverse Live broadcast on August 7 and shared updates about his recent activities. When a fan complimented BTS’s latest “Today’s Bangtan” group photo, V personally explained why the composition and overall atmosphere of the recent pictures had changed.
“Today’s Bangtan” refers to the group photos BTS releases to fans after completing official schedules. Recently, the members have moved away from their familiar formation of simply standing in a line and have experimented with different compositions and concepts, attracting considerable attention from fans. Some fans even speculated that a new photographer might have joined the team.
However, V revealed that the change actually began with his own ideas. “I feel a little awkward saying this because it sounds like I’m praising myself,” he said cautiously. He continued, “There are people at our company who take really great photos, but I thought it was so boring to have them take ‘Today’s Bangtan’ with all of us just standing in a straight line. Seriously.”
He then explained, “So I told them, ‘This is too boring and bland. Let’s stop taking pictures in a straight line every time. Let’s make them fun.’ I gave them a few ideas and suggested different camera compositions.”
V also revealed one of the specific ideas that inspired the new approach. “One of the simplest things I thought of was this meme-style format where you take a picture like a comic book cover. I thought, ‘Why don’t we try something like that?’ and that’s how we started,” he explained.
V also shared plans to bring even more creative ideas to future “Today’s Bangtan” photos. “From now on, ‘Today’s Bangtan’ won’t just be stiff or boring. We’ll come up with fun concepts and make the photos more enjoyable. We have a lot of touring ahead too,” he said.
He also took time to express his gratitude toward BTS fans for respecting their boundaries. In July, V had asked fans through Weverse to refrain from coming to his hotel because it could affect his condition ahead of performances.
V later talked about how fans had changed their behavior following his request. “After I asked people not to come to the hotel, about 90 out of 100 people would pretend not to recognize us even if they saw us on the street, as if they wanted to let us have more small memories,” he said.
He added, “When they see us, they even close their eyes really tightly. It makes us so happy that we actually greet them first, saying, ‘Hi.’” V expressed his appreciation for the fans’ thoughtful response and consideration.
