A Korean rising actor revealed his sincere thoughts on fanmeetings, surprising viewers.
In a recent video uploaded to the YouTube channel Fairy Jae Hyung, actor Seo Kang Joon (also known as Seo Kang Jun) openly shared his feelings about fanmeetings.
Seo Kang Joon said, “I want to change the way fanmeetings are held.” He explained, “There are various practical issues involved.”
He added, “From the company’s perspective, there are financial concerns. I only asked the company one thing: ‘I appreciate and am honored by fanmeetings, but I don’t want to make money from them. I can’t hold a fanmeeting if I have to charge for tickets.’”
He continued, “Those who hold fanmeetings have the ability to do so—I don’t possess dancing, singing, or witty conversational or humorous skills that would entertain people. I want fans to come because they genuinely like me, not because of money. I think charging money is wrong since I lack those abilities.”
When Seo Kang Joon said, “From the company’s standpoint, fanmeetings are not seen as a source of profit,” Jae Hyung remarked, “It’s just too expensive. Putting together a performance costs too much.”
He added, “I understand that feeling, but ticket prices can be a burden. Still, I think many fans would say ‘Just do it like that,’ but since your projects are so sporadic…”
Seo Kang Joon admitted, “I feel sorry to fans for not holding fanmeetings because of these reasons. So, I devised a plan to activate the fan cafe.”
Jae Hyung joked, “This isn’t a story from 1995. Does a fan cafe still exist?” Seo Kang Joon replied, “It does. Fans can chat in real time there.”
Jae Hyung said, “You can open it up more flexibly, and even if it’s not a traditional performance or focused on dance, I think you can definitely find a way to prepare and interact meaningfully.” Seo Kang Joon concluded, “Finding that method is my goal, and I’m discussing this with the company.“
