A star-turned-sex offender, who has been continuously targeting fellow celebrities, this time unleashed sharp words aimed at those who enjoyed the fireworks festival at home.
On September 7th, Go Young Wook posted on his personal social media account, “What’s there to brag about while living in smog?” along with a screenshot of an article covering stars who watched the Seoul World Fireworks Festival held around Yeouido, Seoul, on the 5th from their homes.
The post included cases of comedian Kim Ji Min, actress Hwang Jung Eum, and influencer Choi Jun Hee.
Unlike the citizens who braved crowds of a million people and heavy traffic to find prime spots along the Han River, celebrities and influencers have been repeatedly revealing themselves enjoying the fireworks leisurely from home, creating a mixed reaction from the public.
While some criticize this as the recurring “Han River view class show-off” every festival season, there is also considerable defense saying they were just sharing ordinary moments with family.
The contrast between those who have to secure spots half a day in advance and those who view the festival from expensive apartment panoramic windows has sparked criticisms, with some saying it generates discomfort due to real estate asset disparities.
Recently, Go Young Wook publicly targeted numerous celebrities, including Gong Hyo Jin, Park Ha Sun, Lee Min Jung, Seo Jang Hoon, Lee Ji Hye, Lee Chan Won, and Lee Sang Min, putting himself at the center of controversy.
He debuted in 1994 as a member of Roo’ra and was active, but was expelled from the entertainment industry after being involved in three cases of sexual assault against minors in 2012. In 2013, the Supreme Court sentenced him to 2 years and 6 months in prison, 3 years of electronic monitoring, and 5 years of public notification of personal information.
