Actor Kim Soo Hyun has greeted fans for the first time in about one year and four months after police cleared him of allegations related to his past relationship with late actress Kim Sae Ron. The actor appeared in a new video message released by Philippine lifestyle brand BENCH on August 2.
Kim Soo Hyun, who works as a model for the brand and recently renewed his contract, shared a short but meaningful greeting as he slowly returns to public activities.
According to ChosunBiz, in the video, Kim Soo Hyun expressed his happiness about reconnecting with fans after a long break.
“Hello. I’m Kim Soo Hyun, a BENCH model. I really missed you a lot,” he said. “I’m happy to greet you after a long time. Please look forward to it.”
After delivering his message, the actor smiled and waved toward the camera, showing appreciation to supporters who had waited for his return.
This marked Kim Soo Hyun’s first official greeting since allegations involving Kim Sae Ron became public last year. Following the controversy, the “Queen of Tears” actor stepped away from entertainment activities and focused on addressing the accusations through legal procedures.
Kim Soo Hyun Avoids Prosecution
The allegations claimed that Kim Soo Hyun had dated Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor. Kim Sae Ron’s family filed a complaint accusing him of violating the Child Welfare Act, while the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute shared recordings and chat messages related to the claims.
Kim Soo Hyun’s side admitted that the two had been in a relationship but maintained that it began after Kim Sae Ron became an adult. His representatives also denied the accusations and stated that some released materials were manipulated using artificial intelligence technology, TimesNow reported.
Recently, Seoul Seongdong Police decided not to send the case for prosecution, saying there was not enough evidence to support the alleged Child Welfare Act violation.
Kim Soo Hyun’s legal team said the decision cleared him of the most serious allegations and asked the public to judge the situation based on verified facts.
The controversy also led to legal action against Kim Se Ui, the operator of Garosero Research Institute. Prosecutors reportedly indicted him on charges including defamation through false claims, while some materials shared during the dispute were found to have been manipulated.
