Judge Shin Jong Oh, who recently presided over a high-profile financial case involving former first lady Kim Keon Hee, has been found dead near the Seoul High Court.
According to multiple Korean media reports, Shin Jong Oh was discovered near the court premises at approximately 1 a.m. KST on May 6. Authorities have confirmed that an investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding his death. No further official details have been released at this time.

The news has drawn particular attention due to the judge’s recent involvement in a major legal case. On April 28, Shin Jong Oh delivered a ruling in the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation scandal, sentencing Kim Keon Hee to four years in prison and a fine of ₩50 million KRW (approximately $33,900 USD). The decision came after an appeals trial, during which the judge overturned an earlier sentence of 20 months.
Given the sensitivity of both the case and the judge’s passing, authorities are proceeding cautiously, and officials have not indicated any conclusions regarding potential causes or connections.
Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
