Singer Jang Mun-bok has officially completed his 18 months of active-duty military service and returned to his fans with a message about a new beginning. The singer was discharged from the Army on August 16, one day after National Liberation Day, after enlisting in February last year.
Jang Mun-bok shared news of his discharge through his channel on August 17. Along with photos from his time in uniform, he reflected on the long journey and thanked fans for supporting him throughout his service.
“I have completed 1 year and 6 months of military service and will now be discharged,” Jang Mun-bok said.
He also explained that discharge felt different from what he had imagined after spending so much of his life following plans and schedules.
For Jang Mun-bok, military life brought both good and difficult moments. He said the experience gave him valuable lessons that he could not have learned in other parts of his life. According to TheChosun, he also expressed gratitude for being able to finish his service safely.
“Thanks to your sincere concern and support, I was able to complete my service safely without any injuries or illnesses, maintaining my health,” he said.
Jang Mun-bok Reflects on Military Journey
His message also looked back at the changing seasons he experienced during his service. He began his military journey during a cold winter, faced the intense heat of summer, and finally reached discharge as the weather began to feel cooler.
“On this day with a refreshing breeze signaling a new beginning, I stand before you again as ‘singer Jang Mun-bok,'” he said, adding that he would do his best moving forward.
Jang Mun-bok also marked the meaning of his discharge date, which came just after National Liberation Day. He paid tribute to independence activists who fought against injustice to protect the country, including those whose names remain unknown.
During his military service, Jang Mun-bok was promoted early and continued to carry out his duties as an active-duty Army soldier.
Before joining the military, Jang Mun-bok first gained public attention through Mnet’s “Superstar K2” in 2010. His fast-paced rap style helped him stand out on the audition program, SportalKorea reported.
He later appeared on “Produce 101 Season 2” in 2017 and continued his music career. In 2019, he made his official group debut as a member of Limitless.
