Veteran martial arts actor Yuen Wah recently amused audiences with his candid comments about Jackie Chan, jokingly describing the global action star as “stingy” during their childhood years.

According to Sinchew, the Hong Kong martial arts veteran recently appeared on a television program, where he shared a number of entertaining stories about his fellow members of the famous Seven Little Fortunes troupe.
Yuen Wah revealed that he grew up alongside Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung from a very young age. Having spent much of their childhood together, the trio developed a close bond and became extremely familiar with one another’s personalities and habits. When asked whether Jackie Chan was really stingy as rumors suggested, Yuen Wah replied with a laugh, “From my perspective, he was a stingy person.”

The actor quickly clarified that his comment was meant humorously. He explained that when Jackie Chan was young, he would often hide any snacks or food he had. Only when the food was close to expiring or about to go bad would he finally bring it out and share it with everyone else.
In contrast, Sammo Hung was known for being exceptionally generous. According to Yuen Wah, the martial arts star frequently invited everyone to eat together and approached both life and work with a relaxed and open-minded attitude. Yuen Wah admitted that Sammo Hung remains the fellow Seven Little Fortunes member he admires and respects the most.
Besides revealing amusing stories about his childhood brothers-in-arms, Yuen Wah also rarely spoke about his love story with his wife, Evina, who has no ties to the entertainment industry.
The couple first met at Shaw Brothers Studios. At the time, Evina had accompanied her mother on a visit to the film set, and Yuen Wah instantly fell in love with her at first sight. After dating for just one year, the two decided to get married.
Evina also appeared on the program and praised her husband for being a devoted family man. She shared that Yuen Wah would head straight home to his wife and children after finishing work every day.

She further revealed that whenever Yuen Wah received his salary, he would hand over the entire amount to her for management, keeping only a small amount of cash for personal use.
Later, for the sake of their children’s education, Evina moved with their two children to Vancouver, Canada. During that period, Yuen Wah spent years frequently traveling between Hong Kong and Canada to balance work and family life.
Now that their children have grown up, gotten married, and started families of their own, Yuen Wah has also become a grandfather. After decades of hard work and long-distance sacrifices, the couple is finally enjoying a peaceful and comfortable retirement together.
