Singer-songwriter HANRORO defended Cortis’ reference to her song “0+0,” saying she viewed the lyric as a positive exchange between musicians after fans criticized the group’s new track as mocking.

According to Insight, Cortis released “Money Money Money” on August 24 as part of the expanded edition of its second mini album, “GREENGREEN_playextended.” The group first performed the song at its “Put Your Phone Down Birthday Party” in Seoul on Aug. 22 and 23. All members participated in writing and composing the track.
The controversy centers on lyrics about wanting to earn money while having fun and adding zeros to a bank account “just like HANRORO.” The line also references Pororo, creating a rhyme that critics said reduced HANRORO’s name and “0+0” to wordplay in a song about wealth.
Fans argued that “0+0” carries a deeper meaning, describing solidarity, emotional support and a promise to remain together. Some said the reference disregarded the song’s message and the importance it holds for listeners.

Other users defended the lyric as a respectful musical reference, noting that shout-outs to other artists are common in hip-hop and do not necessarily indicate ridicule.
Sports Chosun reported that Cortis member Keonho addressed the criticism Aug. 24 on a fan communication platform. Calling the lyric a “shout-out,” he said he was a longtime admirer of HANRORO’s music and had studied her lyrics to improve his own songwriting. He described her writing as poetic and said he wanted to express his respect personally.
HANRORO responded the same day, saying she had received the song and a written message from the group. It also reported that she had followed Cortis since its debut, admired the members’ creativity and stage presence, and had seen them listen to and sing along with “0+0.”
“What could be more meaningful than musicians communicating through music and filling each other’s hearts?” HANRORO wrote. “That is why I am taking the mention in the new song in a positive light.”
She added that the reference could preserve this moment of mutual respect and urged fans not to remain deeply upset.
The Korea Herald reported that Big Hit Music had not issued an official statement or clarified whether HANRORO or her agency had been consulted before the lyric was included. HANRORO nonetheless concluded by supporting Cortis’ artistic direction and congratulating the group on the release.
