A girl group idol has strongly denied rumors of assaulting IU.
On October 7th, a video titled “The Real Reason Baek Ji Young Disliked Seo In Young Revealed for the First Time (+Strong Women of the Music Industry, Witness Statements)” was released on YouTube.
The video showed Seo In Young, originally from the group Jewelry, visiting Baek Ji Young’s house. Previously, Seo In Young and Baek Ji Young had conflicts but had announced they reconciled.
Seo In Young began, “In my memory, there was a misunderstanding between you and me, who you know as a junior.” Baek Ji Young said, “A friend misunderstood Seo In Young and disliked her greatly. So I disliked her too,” while hitting her own head.
She also mentioned the dressing room incident. Baek Ji Young said, “LYn and I were sharing the same dressing room, and Seo In Young came to see LYn. Me telling her, ‘You’re too noisy, Seo In Young, be quiet’ was wrong. If you know her, she’s very delicate, kind, and easygoing, but back then we never had a proper conversation. Seo In Young was doing very well then, but I couldn’t see any signs of humility,” she apologized.
Seo In Young recalled, “It wasn’t just her, there was a senior from another group who called me ‘princess’ behind my back.”
Baek Ji Young said, “You and I were both strong personalities. If you look closer, you never criticized anyone and neither did I except you.”
Seo In Young then said, “There’s a rumor that I hit IU. Why on earth would I hit her? There’s even a rumor that I took her to the bathroom and hit her. We weren’t even close,” expressing her frustration. Baek Ji Young joked, “Since you weren’t close, that’s why you hit her,” drawing laughter.
Seo In Young was caught up in rumors that she assaulted IU during their appearance together on SBS’s Heros in 2010. IU denied these claims in 2011 on MBC’s Radio Star, saying, “I was never dragged to the bathroom or hit.” Seo In Young also explained in 2013 on MBC’s The Knee-Drop Guru that she never called IU to the bathroom or hit her.
