First-Generation Hallyu Male Star With ₩130 Billion in Real Estate Goes Looking for Alcohol in Broad Daylight: “Long Live the Red Cap!”
Jang Keun Suk, the first-generation Hallyu star reportedly owning ₩130 billion in real estate, amused fans with photos from a casual grocery trip.
On September 11, Jang Keun Suk posted several photos of himself browsing items at a supermarket, writing, “I tried grocery shopping. Long live the red cap!!” In the photos, he kept things casual in black shorts, brown slippers, and a zip-up hoodie over a sleeveless top. He was also seen crouching in front of the snack aisle, carefully deciding which treats to buy.
What particularly caught fans’ attention, however, was his visit to the alcohol section. In another photo, Jang Keun Suk took a beer out of the refrigerator before apparently reconsidering his choice. He eventually picked up a bottle of soju with a distinctive red cap and flashed a bright smile at the camera.

Despite having been in the entertainment industry for 33 years, Jang Keun Suk continued to impress with his youthful appearance and well-proportioned physique. Even without makeup, his defined facial features drew admiration from fans.

Fans responded enthusiastically, leaving comments such as, “I thought you were doing a photoshoot, but you were just grocery shopping! Thanks for the pictures!”, “Thank you for sharing your shopping day with us. You look great. You’re so charming even when you’re grocery shopping,” and “Thank you for showing us this comfortable, everyday side of Keun Suk.”

Jang Keun Suk entered the entertainment industry in 1993 as a child clothing model. He later gained public recognition for his youthful, handsome image through the 2003 sitcom Nonstop 4 and various commercials. After appearing in dramas including Hwang Jini and Beethoven Virus, his popularity exploded across Asia with the 2009 SBS drama You’re Beautiful, which became a major hit in Japan and Greater China. His immense popularity earned him the nickname “Prince of Asia.” Following his military service and an acting hiatus of around five years, Jang Keun Suk made a dramatic transformation in the Coupang Play original series Decoy, growing a beard and taking on the role of a rugged detective that departed from his longtime pretty-boy image.
More recently, Jang Keun Suk has spoken publicly about previously being diagnosed with bipolar disorder and thyroid cancer. He has continued appearing on entertainment programs in both South Korea and Japan while also pursuing music through his band Chimiro, maintaining activities across music, television, and the wider Asian entertainment industry.
