According to Sohu, Chinese singer Jane Zhang, also known as Zhang Liangying, previously performed several songs a cappella at commercial events and solo concerts after receiving requests from audience members. Although she owns the rights to the songs, they were reportedly not included in the performance program submitted to the relevant authorities in advance.

As a result, the event organizer was fined by the local culture and tourism authorities. Zhang expressed regret over the situation and said she would remove the fan-request segment from future commercial performances. The singer has often delighted audiences by spontaneously performing songs without accompaniment, a tradition that highlighted both her strong live vocals and willingness to interact with fans.

Many viewers expressed disappointment after hearing the news, as the unscripted performances had become one of the most memorable parts of her concerts. However, Zhang and her team are required to follow China’s performance-management regulations.

Born in Sichuan in 1984, Jane Zhang developed an interest in singing at an early age. She later gained national recognition through the talent competition Super Girl, where she finished as runner-up at the age of 20.
The program helped launch her career, and she eventually became one of China’s most prominent female vocalists. Zhang was also invited to appear on Oprah Winfrey’s talk show and became one of the first Asian singers to hold an international tour in the United States.
