Netflix’s “Single’s Inferno 4” star Lee Si An has won a legal battle against her agency after a court ruled that a contract extension agreement was not valid. The decision dismissed the agency’s claims for damages and penalties, marking a victory for the entertainer.
On June 22, Lee Si An prevailed in her legal battle with Leaders Entertainment after the Seoul Central District Court issued its ruling, Soompi reported.
The agency had pursued financial damages, alleging that Lee violated the terms of their exclusive agreement after she sought to bring the contract to an end.
The dispute began after Leaders Entertainment signed an additional agreement with Lee Si An in April 2024, before her appearance on Netflix’s “Single’s Inferno 4.”
The original exclusive contract, which started in August 2023, was set to end in October 2024. However, the new agreement added an extra 18 months to the contract period.
Lee Si An later challenged the extension and decided to end the contract. In December 2024, the agency filed a lawsuit, arguing that she had not fulfilled her responsibilities. However, the court determined that the supplementary agreement was created based on misleading information provided to Lee Si An.
Lawsuit Against Lee Si An Dismissed by Court
The court stated that it found no evidence showing that Netflix made an exclusive agency agreement a requirement for Lee Si An’s participation in “Single’s Inferno 4.” It also found no evidence that her contract needed to continue until the show’s broadcast as a condition of her casting.
The court stated, “There was no evidence that Netflix had required Lee Si An to be represented by an agency with exclusive management rights.”
Based on this, the judges concluded that Lee Si An agreed to the extension under incorrect assumptions, making the agreement invalid.
The court also rejected Leaders Entertainment’s request for contractual penalties. The court concluded that the additional agreement was validly terminated and found insufficient evidence to show that Lee Si An breached the original contract.
According to AllKPop, Lee Si An first became known to the public through Mnet survival programs “Idol School” and “Produce 48.” She later gained wider attention after appearing on Netflix’s reality dating series “Single’s Inferno 4,” which helped introduce her to a larger audience.
