Actress Cha Ye-ryun has denied allegations of school violence, but suspicions that comments were being deleted from her YouTube channel have also emerged. Amid the controversy, the channel’s production team has released a statement explaining its comment moderation policy and plans for future operations.
On November 1, the production team posted an official notice on Cha Ye-ryun’s YouTube channel, “Cha Jang-geum Cha Ye-ryun.”
“We became aware of the current situation while accompanying actress Cha Ye-ryun on her schedule in the United States. We ask for your understanding regarding the delay in our response,” the team stated.
It continued, “YouTube comments are managed at the production team’s discretion, without any involvement from the cast.” The statement clarified that Cha Ye-ryun had no role in moderating the comments. Previously, suspicions had been raised that comments were being deleted from the channel following the emergence of the school bullying allegations.
The team added, “While the relevant matters are being reviewed, we will temporarily disable some videos and comment sections to prevent the indiscriminate spread of rumors and personal attacks against family members. We ask for our subscribers’ understanding.”
Cha Ye-ryun was recently caught up in school bullying allegations that surfaced through an online community. The controversy began on October 29, when a post titled “Please let the 1985-born actress accused of school bullying stop working” was published.
The writer claimed to have suffered repeated bullying and physical abuse at the hands of an actress born in 1985 during middle school. In particular, the accuser alleged that the actress slapped them inside a building near the school, rupturing their eardrum, and demanded an apology.
Even after additional allegations emerged, the agency maintained its original position. On November 1, a representative from HB Entertainment told Xportsnews, “We have no additional statement regarding the school bullying allegations against Cha Ye-ryun.” The representative also clarified that the agency was neither separately considering legal action nor discussing the release of any further statement.
Meanwhile, the YouTube production team has also announced its comment moderation policy as the controversy continues. However, the notice only addressed how the channel’s comment sections would be managed and did not provide any further explanation regarding the school bullying allegations themselves.
Meanwhile, Cha Ye-ryun married actor Joo Sang-wook in 2017, and the couple welcomed a daughter the following year. She currently runs the YouTube channel “Cha Jang-geum Cha Ye-ryun.”
