On August 8, Jisoo took to a fan communication platform to celebrate the 10th anniversary of BLACKPINK while also apologizing for the recent controversy surrounding the group’s 10th-anniversary Meet & Greet event.
“Ten years have already passed since I debuted as BLACKPINK. I feel especially sorry on this anniversary. During these 10 years, there have been so many things, both as BLACKPINK and as Jisoo. I always wanted to show everyone only the best of myself and be someone who could bring happiness during difficult moments, but seeing so many BLINKs upset makes my heart feel heavy,” Jisoo wrote.
She continued by emphasizing that she had not forgotten the role fans played in the group’s success. “I want to say that I have never forgotten that BLINKs are the ones who have made BLACKPINK shine like this. Thank you for celebrating our 10th anniversary, and once again, I’m sorry for causing you such a great sense of disappointment. I always want to tell you how grateful I am and how much I love you,” she sincerely expressed.
Previously, YG Entertainment, which oversees BLACKPINK’s group activities, announced on August 6—just two days before the anniversary—that it would hold a Meet & Greet event inviting only 40 fans to celebrate the group’s 10th anniversary. The announcement sparked a major backlash, particularly because the exact venue and schedule had not been clearly revealed and the company suggested that some members might be unable to attend.
The controversy grew further as criticism emerged that the members had become too focused on their individual activities and were neglecting BLACKPINK as a full group and its fandom. Following the intense backlash, it was eventually confirmed that all four members—Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa—would attend the 10th-anniversary event.
