Multiple of her social media posts have sparked heavy scrutiny.
aespa member Giselle has found herself amid a raging backlash over some of her recent social media posts.

While Giselle is known for her very specific Instagram aesthetic, which often includes random pictures and videos unrelated to her, many netizens have raised questions about some of the common threads. One of them is her inclusion of rapper XXXTentacion in multiple posts.
mind you, XXXTENTACION is a well known abus€r, yet giselle used his song in her post. but of course kpopies won’t drag her since she isn’t bts. pic.twitter.com/8gw8R4glxY

The rapper in question was accused of serious domestic abuse, aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, and false imprisonment, among others. Though he had denied the charges, a secret audio recording that was released after his passing in 2018, seemingly contained his confessions to multiple similar crimes.

Given the severity of the allegations against XXXTentacion, Giselle’s continuous endorsement of him on her social media is facing heavy scrutiny.
She is also facing flak for making a post including Creed‘s music since the band’s frontman, Scott Stapp, was arrested in 2007 for throwing a glass bottle at his wife’s head during an argument.

Some other posts that have also been flagged by netizens for allegedly containing subtle implications of violence, whether it be repeated imagery of blood or guns.

People also took issue with her referencing Bonnie & Clyde in her Instagram posts. Though the outlaw couple has long been a recurring pop culture icon, netizens felt that it wasn’t in good taste to post about them, given their two-year crime spree across the US led to 13 deaths.

With all the criticism combined, Giselle’s Instagram has become a hot topic on social media. Fans, however, have defended her, arguing that the posts simply reflected her “edgy” online persona.
the 4chan edgelord aesthetic not even the worst part its the fact that she idolizes literal nazis and abusers.. who remembers when she got on stage wearing x’s mugshot from when he was arrested for beating and kidnapping his pregnant gf like.. #beenweird https://t.co/YVeYATHYdz

Y’all genuinely cannot let women do their own stuff.. hating on giselle for having her own aesthetic that you consider “corny, cringe” for her age is so fucking nasty, y’all act as if giselle is a hag from historical era btw she’s just 25 her using toy guns isn’t gonna kill you.

y’all beg idols to have personality and actually be themselves until they do exactly that. giselle is just being unapologetically herself and suddenly she’s creepy and being called all sorts of names. y’all cannot be serious.
