On the September 5 episode of MBC’s variety show Omniscient Interfering View, episode 414 followed Hyoyeon’s daily life as she transitioned from a second-generation K-pop icon in Girls’ Generation to a member of the newly formed sixth-generation rookie girl group HyoRiSoo.
Hyoyeon is currently living alone in the spacious dorm that was once shared by the Girls’ Generation members. When asked what it was like when the group members were all living together, she recalled, “Back then, we really shared rooms two by two. I shared one with Seohyun. We had the smallest room, so I honestly don’t really want to think about it.”

Despite the cramped conditions, Hyoyeon admitted that the experience ultimately brought her and Seohyun much closer. “But because of that time, Seohyun and I became really close. I’m the free-spirited type, but Seohyun helped me stay on a somewhat better path. She would read books and listen to the sounds of nature. I was positively influenced by her in many ways,” she explained.
Hyoyeon also revealed that she tends to be extremely shy around people she is not close to. She said she feels more comfortable befriending people outside the entertainment industry rather than celebrities in the same profession, which is why she has many non-celebrity friends. When asked whether she had ever gone drinking with her close friend Seohyun, Hyoyeon firmly replied, “She can’t drink, so it’s not fun,” drawing laughter from the cast.
