BTS has reached another major YouTube milestone as the music video for “FAKE LOVE” passed 1.4 billion views on August 13, 2026, at around 3:46 p.m. KST.
The achievement makes it the sixth BTS music video to reach the huge view count.
Released in May 2018, “FAKE LOVE” was the title track of BTS’ third full-length album, “LOVE YOURSELF 轉 ‘Tear.'” The song focuses on the pain of discovering that a relationship was built on something that was not real.
The music video helped bring that feeling to life with dark visuals, detailed sets and strong choreography. One memorable scene shows a boy covering his mouth, eyes and ears with his hands, reflecting the desire to avoid painful truths, IBT reported.
BTS also used powerful movements and artistic images throughout the video. The mix of performance and storytelling gave “FAKE LOVE” a distinct style that fans could connect with beyond the song itself.
The track’s sound also matched its emotional theme. It combines rock guitar riffs with trap beats to create an emo hip-hop style. The darker production adds to the feeling of heartbreak that runs through the song.
BTS FAKE LOVE has surpassed 1.4 billion YouTube views, eight years after its release. The milestone highlights the song’s lasting global impact and reinforces BTS as a major force in music video history.https://t.co/kSK5m5qX7W #BTS

BTS Adds ‘FAKE LOVE’ to Its Billion-View List
The release came during an important period in BTS’ rise around the world. “LOVE YOURSELF 轉 ‘Tear'” made BTS the first Korean act to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The album remained on the chart for 16 weeks, showing the strong interest in the group’s music in the United States.
According to AllKPop, “FAKE LOVE” also performed well as a single. It reached No. 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and No. 42 on the UK Official Singles Chart.
The results showed how BTS was reaching more listeners outside South Korea while continuing to release Korean-language music.
With 1.4 billion views, “FAKE LOVE” now joins six other major BTS videos that have crossed the billion-view mark. The group’s billion-view videos include “Dynamite,” “Boy With Luv” featuring Halsey, “DNA,” “MIC Drop (Steve Aoki Remix)” and “IDOL.”
More than eight years after its release, “FAKE LOVE” continues to attract viewers on YouTube.
