A Korean actor has made a surprise announcement about his marriage.
On August 11th, a handwritten letter announcing the marriage news was shared on Instagram by Song Won Geun.
He began the letter by saying, “I have a story I want to share with you first and with some caution. Since you have always been with me through many precious moments on my journey as an actor, I wanted to deliver this news to you directly first.”
He continued, “It feels a bit nerve-wracking and cautious to share this news, but I have met someone I want to spend my life with, and we are starting a new chapter together.”
He added, “I have reached an age where the term ‘old bachelor’ suited me, but now I will be shedding that label. It feels somewhat surprising to me and, above all, I am very happy,” sharing his thoughts ahead of the wedding.
He did not forget to express gratitude towards his fans. He said, “Looking back, the reason I have been able to walk this path as an actor until now is because you have always supported me with a steady heart.” He added, “So, in front of this new beginning called marriage, the gratitude I have received from you is too great to just say I am happy.”
Song Won Geun also expressed his determination to continue active work as an actor after marriage. He pledged, “Marriage is a new start in my life, but I will keep learning more, reflecting deeply, and strive to meet you through great works and good acting even more sincerely.”
In closing, he said, “Thank you sincerely for always trusting and supporting me. I hope you stay healthy and that your days are filled with laughter and happiness.”
Born in 1982, Song Won Geun debuted in 2000 as a member of the group OPPA and later transitioned to acting, working in both dramas and musicals.
He has appeared in musicals such as Goong, Finding Mr. Destiny, The Story of My Life, It Rains Cats and Dogs, Sandglass, Seopyeonje, Red Book, Western Story, and Gone Tomorrow.
In the MBC drama Princess Aurora, he left a strong impression playing the character Natasa. He has also appeared in dramas including Apgujeong Midnight Sun, Victory Tomorrow, The Bride of Habaek, and Babel.
