On August 27, Jung Yeon Woo held a Q&A session with fans on social media. She began by saying that questions about plastic surgery were probably the topic she had been asked about the most since becoming Miss Korea.
She explained that she had never addressed the issue because she felt it was not worth responding to. However, after repeatedly seeing her fellow contestants being hurt by what she described as rude and meaningless comments, she decided to speak up.

Jeong Yeon-woo admitted that she had not undergone plastic surgery but had received cosmetic procedures several times. She added that people were free not to believe her if they did not want to.
She then questioned why people were so interested in whether someone had undergone cosmetic procedures.
“Does being naturally beautiful make someone more valuable, while not being natural makes them less valuable?” she asked, emphasizing that a person’s worth cannot be judged by others and certainly should not be determined by appearance or plastic surgery.
Jung Yeon Woo also addressed misconceptions about the Miss Korea competition. While she acknowledged that the pageant naturally draws attention to appearance because contestants are being evaluated, she stressed that looks are not the only criterion.
According to her, contestants go through various evaluations, including private one-on-one interviews, current affairs-related presentations, self-introductions and talent performances before appearing on stage.
She said it was frustrating that plastic surgery becomes the biggest controversy every year, as it can overshadow the efforts of the contestants and diminish the true purpose of the competition.
Jung Yeon Woo also criticized people who scrutinize others’ faces for changes, those who automatically assume someone has had plastic surgery without even looking carefully, and those who make disrespectful comments based on narrow-minded assumptions.
She concluded by saying that she felt sorry for people who could only see others through such a limited perspective, adding that gaining a broader view of the world could help people realize that many of the things they once considered important were actually insignificant.
Meanwhile, Woo Seo Yoon, the eldest daughter of former basketball player Woo Ji Won, was crowned Miss Korea 2026. She subsequently became the subject of online plastic surgery speculation, sparking heated debate among netizens.
