Actress Yoon So Hee has increasingly found herself making headlines for controversies rather than her acting projects. As renewed scrutiny surrounding Park We’s family brings old videos back into the spotlight, the actress has become an unexpected target of criticism.
At the same time, controversy surrounding her alleged assistance in Jung Hyun Gyu’s victory on Netflix’s reality competition The Devil’s Plan: Death Room, also known as The Devil’s Plan 2, has resurfaced. With Jung Hyun Gyu confirmed to appear in the upcoming season, The Devil’s Plan: Dead Again, scheduled for release next month, viewers have begun revisiting controversial moments from the previous season. Now, another wave of criticism has placed Yoon So Hee under even greater public scrutiny.
The latest controversy stems from a Chuseok holiday video uploaded to Park We’s YouTube channel, WERACLE, in 2024. In the video, Yoon So Hee appeared alongside Park We’s family and was introduced as the adopted daughter of his father, director Park Chan Hong.
After some netizens questioned how Park We’s family treated Song Ji Eun in the video, Yoon So Hee’s past appearance also became a subject of debate. Although the discussion primarily centered on the family’s behavior toward Song Ji Eun, criticism soon spread to Yoon So Hee. Negative comments continue to appear on the actress’s social media accounts, despite her not being the central figure in the original controversy.

This is not the first time Yoon So Hee has faced intense public criticism. Known for her academic background at KAIST and her reputation as an intelligent celebrity, she developed a close alliance with Jung Hyun Gyu during The Devil’s Plan 2. In particular, her apparent decision to give up her turn in Jung’s favor during the final competition sparked debate among viewers. Some questioned whether her actions affected the fairness of the competition, leading to criticism of both her strategy and Jung’s eventual victory. Jung Hyun Gyu also found himself addressing the controversy after winning the show.
However, the bigger concern is that these two controversies have increasingly come to define Yoon So Hee’s public image. Despite building an acting career since her debut in 2013, she is now frequently described as “Jung Hyun Gyu’s helper” or “Park We’s adopted sister” rather than being recognized for her work as an actress.
Some online commenters have gone even further, questioning the success of her acting projects and dismissing her professional achievements altogether. As a result, the 14 years Yoon So Hee has spent establishing herself in the entertainment industry risk being overshadowed by controversies that have little to do with her acting abilities.
Of course, this does not mean that every criticism of Yoon So Hee’s past behavior is necessarily unfair. Viewers have the right to question actions shown in publicly released content, and public figures must accept that their decisions may be evaluated and criticized. However, there is an important distinction between legitimate criticism and permanently labeling someone based on a handful of controversial moments. Yoon So Hee’s situation raises a broader question about whether an actress’s entire career should be judged through controversies rather than the body of work she has built over more than a decade.
