HYBE’s rookie girl group TUIDE recorded the highest first-week sales among female artists who debuted in South Korea this year, but fell well short of the 300,000-plus first-week sales achieved by previous HYBE rookie girl groups.
According to Hanteo Chart on August 31, TUIDE’s first mini album, TUNE & PLAY, released on August 24, sold 112,282 copies during its first week. This marked the highest first-week sales figure among female artists who made their Korean debut this year.
TUIDE, the first girl group introduced by HYBE’s new label ABD, officially debuted with this album. HYBE stated, “With more than 110,000 copies sold in first-week sales for their debut album, TUIDE entered the Top 10 of the highest-selling debut albums by girl groups of all time.”
However, compared with the debut performances of girl groups launched by HYBE-affiliated labels in South Korea since 2022, TUIDE’s starting point is considerably lower.

Source Music’s LE SSERAFIM recorded 307,450 first-week sales with their first mini album, FEARLESS, released in May 2022. NewJeans, launched by ADOR in August of the same year, sold 311,271 copies of their debut album, New Jeans, setting a new record at the time for first-week sales of a girl group debut album.
In March 2024, BELIFT LAB’s ILLIT surpassed that record with their first mini album, SUPER REAL ME. The album sold 380,056 copies during its first week.

In other words, girl groups launched by HYBE-affiliated labels, including LE SSERAFIM, NewJeans and ILLIT, had consistently surpassed the 300,000-copy mark in first-week sales.
Competition among rookie girl groups this year, however, has been extremely close.
OURBIRTHDAY, a girl group launched by JYP Entertainment subsidiary INNIT Entertainment, recorded 111,324 first-week sales with their debut single album, OUR BIRTH DAY.

The gap between OURBIRTHDAY and TUIDE was just 958 copies. TUIDE narrowly came out ahead to claim the No. 1 spot among female artists who debuted in Korea this year in terms of first-week sales.
Meanwhile, TUIDE’s digital performance has been showing signs of continued growth. Their debut song SUN KISS ranked No. 24 on Spotify’s Daily Top Songs chart in South Korea on August 28 and reached No. 5 on Apple Music’s Today’s Top 100: Korea chart on August 29.
