On November 1, singer Soyeon, born in 1987 and formerly of T-ara, surprised fans by announcing that she is pregnant with her first child. The happy news came on the couple’s fourth wedding anniversary with soccer player Cho Yu-min, who is nine years her junior. Their first child is a boy, and the baby arrived as a precious blessing during one of the most difficult periods in Cho Yu-min’s life, after an injury forced him to abandon his hopes of playing at the 2026 World Cup this past summer.

Soyeon’s announcement quickly went viral on social media. She received an outpouring of congratulations from fans, friends and fellow celebrities. Members of T-ara also appeared to put rumors of a falling-out with Soyeon to rest. Under her post, Eunjung commented, “That’s wonderful! Congratulations so much!” while Jiyeon and Hyomin showed their support by “liking” the post.

Soyeon’s full letter read:
Today is November 1. On the occasion of our fourth wedding anniversary, I wanted to share some incredibly precious news that fills us with happiness and gratitude. I’m honestly so nervous!
Our baby will be arriving soon.
In fact, I’m already at the stage where my belly is quite big, and I’m waddling around!
After getting married, my husband and I spent four years working toward his second World Cup, following the first one, which had been his dream.
When his name was included on the official roster for the 2026 World Cup, we were incredibly happy that he had achieved his dream once again. However, before we could fully enjoy that happiness, he suffered an injury during a match held in the United States. As a professional soccer player, he had no choice but to put everything on hold and return home alone.
As we faced the biggest challenge of his life together, God blessed us with a precious new life on a day we had never expected, planned for or even dared to imagine.
I think it was truly a miracle…
Ever since we learned that our baby was on the way, my husband and I have come to truly understand the meaning of gratitude. Every day, we live with grateful hearts and joyfully accompany our little one growing inside me.
From now on, I will continue to live with gratitude, alongside my kind and hardworking husband, our baby who will surely look exactly like his dad, and our adorable dogs!
#GoatYearMom #I’mTheMomOfABabyBoy!
And just like that, our family has welcomed its third member.

Born in 1987, Park Soyeon is widely known as the “golden voice” of legendary girl group T-ara. She is considered one of the most vocally talented idols of K-pop’s second generation. Before achieving stardom with T-ara, she trained at SM Entertainment and came close to debuting with Girls’ Generation.
However, Soyeon eventually joined Core Contents Media, later renamed MBK Entertainment, and debuted with T-ara in 2009. She played a key role in the group’s tremendous success with a string of hit songs, including “Roly-Poly,” “Day by Day” and “Cry Cry.” Despite the major controversy that rocked the group in 2012, Soyeon persevered alongside her fellow members through the difficult period. She eventually left MBK Entertainment in 2017 to pursue her solo career.

In her personal life, Soyeon previously had an on-and-off relationship lasting nearly seven years with Oh Jong-hyuk before the two parted ways in 2016. After keeping a low profile for years, she eventually found lasting happiness with soccer player Cho Yu-min, who is nine years younger than her. The couple officially married in late 2022 and received countless congratulatory messages from fans. In 2024, Cho Yu-min signed with Sharjah FC, a club competing in the UAE Pro League. Soyeon subsequently moved to Dubai with her husband and has frequently shared glimpses of their life in the Middle East.
