According to an investigation notice obtained by Money Today on June 25, police received the complaint against the former classmate, identified as A, on August 25 last year. A had been accused of online defamation, obstruction of business, and intimidation.
A first made the allegations through JTBC’s Crime Chief and other broadcasts in April 2024. The former classmate claimed that Song Ha Yoon, who was one grade above him, called him to a playground during lunch in August 2004 and slapped him for approximately 90 minutes.

A also alleged that Song Ha Yoon had been forcibly transferred before graduation after becoming involved in a group assault. Song Ha Yoon’s side strongly denied the claims. “She has never even met A,” her representatives stated, adding that she had never assaulted the individual or been forcibly transferred because of school violence.
Her legal team also said it submitted public-agency documents, notarized statements, and other evidence intended to show that A’s allegations were false. According to the team, Song Ha Yoon’s former homeroom teacher said the claim that she had been transferred over school violence was unfamiliar.

On February 19, six months after receiving the complaint, police decided not to refer A to prosecutors. The defamation accusation was closed on the ground that the conduct did not constitute a punishable offense under the circumstances. The obstruction and intimidation accusations were dismissed due to insufficient evidence.
Song Ha Yoon’s representatives have since filed an objection to the police decision. Prosecutors are now reviewing the case again. The police ruling concerns Song Ha Yoon’s complaint against A and does not constitute a final judicial determination regarding the underlying school violence allegations.
