SM Entertainment trainee Kassho has become the subject of fresh speculation after a recent sighting in Japan appeared to raise questions about whether he is still part of the agency’s upcoming boy group.
SM Entertainment has a long history of introducing promising trainees through its SM Rookies program before their official debuts. Several members of NCT, aespa, and RIIZE were previously introduced as SM Rookies before eventually joining their respective groups, alongside numerous other trainees who gained attention during their pre-debut years.
In 2025, SM Entertainment unveiled a new batch of trainees known as SMTR25, with the group expected to form part of the agency’s next-generation boy group lineup. The trainees have already begun appearing in various promotional activities, including the variety program Reply High School.
However, recent developments have led fans to speculate that some trainees who were thought to be part of the potential final lineup may have already left the project.
A netizen recently claimed to have spotted Kassho, who previously appeared on the variety program and competed on the survival show NCT: LASTART, while out in public.
The alleged sighting reportedly took place in Japan, where Kassho was seen walking arm in arm with a woman. The pair were also said to be wearing coordinated outfits, prompting speculation among fans that the woman could be his girlfriend.
The sighting quickly caught the attention of fans, particularly because it follows earlier rumors suggesting that Kassho might eventually get married. While some expressed surprise over the latest development, others said they would support him and wished him well in whatever path he chooses if his departure from SM Entertainment’s upcoming group is eventually confirmed.
