Set to premiere on November 4, the Disney+ original series The Remarried Empress is a romantic fantasy centered on Navier (Shin Min-ah), the empress of the Eastern Empire. After Emperor Sovieshu (Ju Ji-hoon) falls for Rashta (Lee Se-young), a runaway slave, he demands a divorce from Navier. Rather than simply accepting his decision, she agrees on the condition that she receives permission to remarry Prince Heinrey (Lee Jong-suk) of the Western Kingdom.
As the series is adapted from a popular web novel, considerable attention has been focused on how its beloved characters will be brought to life on screen. At the center of the story is Navier, a woman blessed with natural elegance, intelligence and an unshakable inner strength. Although her husband’s betrayal leaves her heartbroken, she refuses to let someone else’s choices determine her future. One of the biggest points of anticipation is how Shin Min-ah will portray Navier’s determination to choose a new life and love for herself.
When it comes to visuals, Shin Min-ah has already exceeded expectations. In the newly released stills from The Remarried Empress, she combines her signature radiant beauty with an air of sophistication, perfectly capturing Navier’s regal presence. Looking as though she has stepped straight out of a romantic fantasy, Shin Min-ah has already raised expectations for her interpretation of the iconic empress.

Her performance in balancing the empress’s dignity with her more vulnerable human side is another major point of interest. Beneath Navier’s composed and unwavering exterior lies the pain of losing a relationship built on trust. Shin Min-ah is expected to convey that heartbreak through restrained expressions and subtle emotional nuances, while also portraying how Navier’s feelings gradually change as she encounters a new love.
At a press conference and audience Q&A session held during the 31st Busan International Film Festival, Shin Min-ah previously explained, “I focused on expressing Navier’s human side and her independent emotional journey so that viewers could empathize with and follow her as she experiences betrayal and divorce before choosing a new love.”
Her chemistry with Ju Ji-hoon, Lee Jong-suk and Lee Se-young is also worth watching. While Navier’s relationship with Sovieshu moves toward betrayal and divorce, Heinrey opens the door to the possibility of a new romance. The cracks in the imperial court, triggered by Rashta’s arrival, will intertwine with the desires of all four characters, setting the stage for a series of dramatic developments.
With its lavish imperial setting, dramatic relationships and Shin Min-ah’s nuanced emotional performance, The Remarried Empress is drawing attention for how it will expand the appeal of the original story into a live-action series.
The Remarried Empress will premiere on November 4 with its first four episodes. Two new episodes will then be released every Wednesday, for a total of 10 episodes.
