A couple formed after participating in a popular Korean reality dating show has confirmed to have broken up, disappointing viewers and netizens.
On September 16th, Hyun Sook from I Am SOLO Season 28 acknowledged the breakup with Young Sik in a comment on social media. The two recently erased traces of each other on their social media accounts and YouTube, sparking rumors of their breakup.
When asked, “Did you break up with Young Sik?” Hyun Sook replied, “Yes. He was a good person, and I was happy. That’s why we decided to return to our own places before it got any later or before we grew too attached. We sincerely wish each other the best for the future.”
To fans who felt sorry about the breakup, she said, “This may be the ending, but it was a choice made after plenty of conversation. Thank you for supporting us all this time.” Regarding why they erased traces of each other, she said, “I think removing them is a mutual courtesy.”
Hyun Sook and Young Sik, who appeared on the divorced singles special of I Am SOLO Season 28, confessed their late-blooming relationship in March after the show ended.
The two maintained a long-distance relationship between Incheon and Gwangju, with plans even discussing remarriage, but ultimately chose to part ways.
Young Sik is an urban planning engineer raising a daughter in her senior year of high school. Hyun Sook, a florist, revealed on I Am SOLO that her hobby is real estate auctions. After her divorce, Hyun Sook, who raises three children, attracted attention by revealing that she owns a 40-pyeong apartment, an officetel, and commercial properties.
