A woman who repeatedly stalked actor Go Se Won and spread allegations that he had sexually assaulted and impregnated her has been sentenced to two years in prison.
According to a September 28 report by TenAsia, the Anyang Branch of the Suwon District Court recently sentenced the woman, identified only as “A,” to two years in prison on charges including stalking and spreading false information about the actor.
The court additionally ordered A to complete 40 hours of a stalking treatment program. The ruling brings a major development to a controversy that first became public in 2021, when A made explosive allegations about her former relationship with Go Se Won. According to evidence examined during the trial, A repeatedly attempted to contact Go Se Won after their relationship had ended.
The court reportedly confirmed 54 separate instances of contact. A also contacted the actor’s mother on eight occasions, continuing to approach people connected to him despite the end of their relationship. The case, however, extended beyond unwanted contact. A was also accused of repeatedly publishing false allegations about Go Se Won online.
According to the report, she made 10 online posts claiming that Go Se Won had sexually assaulted her, that she became pregnant as a result, subsequently suffered a miscarriage, and was then abandoned by him.
During the proceedings, the court examined evidence concerning the most serious allegations. According to TenAsia’s report on the judgment, the court determined that A’s claims concerning pregnancy, miscarriage and coerced sexual intercourse were inconsistent with the objective evidence.
The evidence considered reportedly included gynecological medical records, ultrasound results, official responses to factual inquiries, an expert assessment from the Korean Medical Association, and relevant recorded conversations.
After reviewing those materials, the court concluded that the allegations A had repeatedly circulated online did not correspond with the established facts. A first brought the dispute into the public eye in 2021 through an online post with a title referring to an actor “K,” whom she described as the “prince of housewives.”
In the post, she claimed she had become pregnant by K, suffered a miscarriage and was subsequently abandoned.
A also alleged at the time that Go Se Won possessed nude photographs of her and claimed that when she demanded proof they had been deleted, he threatened to report her for intimidation before blocking her.
The allegations subsequently spread widely online. However, contact and online posts concerning Go Se Won reportedly continued afterward, eventually becoming part of the criminal case that has now resulted in A’s prison sentence.
Go Se Won’s side is reportedly preparing to pursue civil liability against A separately from the criminal proceedings. His side plans to seek damages for the harm allegedly caused by the repeated stalking and dissemination of false information.
The case is particularly significant because the court’s findings went beyond simply determining that A contacted Go Se Won excessively. According to the report, evidence presented during the trial directly contradicted the highly damaging claims involving sexual assault, pregnancy and miscarriage that had followed the actor for years.
A has now received a two-year prison sentence, alongside the mandatory stalking treatment program, while Go Se Won is preparing further legal action over the damage caused by the years-long dispute.
