ONEWE released their third studio album, ‘Unknown Atlas,’ on August 19, completing the band’s new trilogy with a 17-track collection built around reimagined fairy tales and unknown worlds.
The album features 12 new songs and five tracks released earlier, giving fans a large project that brings together the different musical ideas of Yonghoon, Kanghyun, Harin, Dongmyeong, and Giuk.
The release also completes the group’s “Point·Line·Plane” series, following ‘The Quiver’ and ‘The Wake.’ The new album takes a creative turn from ONEWE’s earlier space-themed work.
This time, the members created their own versions of familiar stories, including “Pinocchio” and “Laputa.” Instead of simply retelling those tales, they added new ideas and darker emotions.
Giuk explained that the album uses stories many people already know but gives them a different point of view.
One example is “Bloody Pinocchio,” which explores Pinocchio’s fear of growing up and presents the familiar character in a much darker way, AllKPop reported.
That unusual approach also shaped the mood of the record. Kanghyun said the group did not try to make the album completely bright or innocent. The members instead focused on their own feelings and interpretations, which led to songs with stronger and sometimes grim moods. The size of the album came naturally from the members’ active involvement in making it.
ONEWE Maps Out New Fantasy Album
Each member contributed songs, while Kanghyun and Giuk led the overall production. Yonghoon said that having everyone work on their own material quickly increased the number of tracks.
Earlier songs from the series were also added, helping the album reach its final 17-song lineup. The track list was first revealed on August 5 through ONEWE’s official social media accounts.
According to TheChosun, designed like a map, the image included images of an island above the clouds, mushroom houses, and mermaid tails, giving fans early clues about the album’s fantasy world. For the best listening experience, the members recommend following the track list from beginning to end.
Dongmyeong said the order was carefully discussed to create a meaningful flow between the stories and different genres. Harin described the album as a journey that listeners can follow before choosing their own favorite tracks.
The group will continue that new chapter with its solo concert, ‘O! NEW E!volution VI,’ scheduled for September 19 and 20.
