When a fan said, “Oppa, I fought with my younger sibling this morning and got scolded. Please comfort me,” Lee Kwang Soo replied, “You’re really cute. You don’t know how cute you are right now.”
The problem arose from the seemingly ordinary word “cute” (귀여운지). The syllable “운지” was recognized as a banned word, causing some characters to be censored.
Unaware of the reason, Lee Kwang Soo separated the syllables “운” and “지” and asked, “Why is this a banned word?” showing confusion. He even looked up the word’s dictionary meaning and shared it while repeatedly questioning, “Why is this?”
However, shortly after, his reaction completely changed after understanding the situation. He deleted the previous message and said, “Now I’m fully awake,” showing surprise.
The word in question, apart from its dictionary meaning, has been used as slang in far-right online communities like Ilbe to mock the late former President Roh Moo Hyun’s death. Lee Kwang Soo seemed to have discovered this meaning only after searching for the reason behind the banned word notification.
This incident drew even more attention as it happened just as Lee Kwang Soo was rising as a “communication king.” Having started using the fan communication platform on the 1st, he quickly adapted, exchanging messages nonstop with fans and reacting with comments like “I think I’m addicted” and “Tie me up.”
Not only fans but also general users have subscribed to Lee Kwang Soo’s communication platform, and even fellow celebrities have shown interest, making him a hot topic day after day.
