Four years after her death, Jung Da Bin’s mother made the emotional decision to arrange a posthumous marriage for her daughter. Deeply saddened that Jung Da Bin had passed away without ever getting married, she organized a symbolic wedding ceremony, pairing the actress with a man she had never met during her lifetime.
The man chosen for the posthumous marriage was Moon Jae Sung, a former student at the Graduate School of Business Administration at a university in Daegu, South Korea. Moon died from heart disease in 2002 at the age of 27 and had never married. The posthumous wedding ceremony was held on May 22, 2011, at Yongcheonsa Temple in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province.
In reality, Jung Da Bin and Moon Jae Sung had never met while they were alive. The symbolic marriage later sparked widespread ethical debate in South Korea, with many questioning whether the living have the right to decide the marital status of those who have already passed away.
