A famous Korean TV personality visited the house where he lived during his studies in Japan 30 years ago and sparked unexpected debate among netizens.
On November 4th, an online community posted an article titled “Lee Kyung Kyu’s Latest Status.”
The post included part of a video released on YouTube on the 29th of last month. In the video, Lee Kyung Kyu visited the luxurious mansion where he lived during his study abroad in Japan three decades ago. Although the neighborhood had changed significantly since his last visit, he miraculously found the house he used to live in.
Moved, he took a commemorative photo in front of the house and, reluctant to leave without more, suggested, “Shall we ask if someone lives here?”

The interpreter accompanying him cautiously asked the current homeowner, “A famous celebrity from Korea lived here 30 years ago. Though we don’t want to bother you, could we take a quick look inside one of the rooms?”
However, the homeowner replied, “That’s difficult,” and refused the request. The interpreter apologized for any inconvenience caused, and ultimately Lee Kyung Kyu left without seeing the interior.

Netizens’ reactions to the scene were mixed. Some expressed interest, saying, “This is truly unplanned,” finding the unexpected situation intriguing.
On the other hand, some felt that “The filming style only worked because of his celebrity status in Korea and failed here,” “Private spaces shouldn’t be violated just because it’s for filming,” and “It’s a nuisance.“
