Disney+ original series The Remarried Empress premiered on November 3, and an intimate scene between Shin Min-ah and Ju Ji-hoon has been attracting considerable attention.
In Episode 1, viewers saw Empress Navier (Shin Min-ah) and Emperor Sovieshu (Ju Ji-hoon) spending the night together. When Navier got out of bed to prepare for the New Year’s celebration, Sovieshu pulled her back down and wrapped his arms around her. He then suggested that they announce at the celebration that they were expecting a child before kissing her.
The intimate scene, which appeared early in the series, prompted playful reactions from viewers, including comments such as, “I suddenly feel bad for Kim Woo-bin,” “What’s with that hand placement?” and “Someone bring Kim Woo-bin here.” Some also remarked that the scene looked even more provocative because Shin Min-ah was wearing a strapless dress that exposed her shoulders, while Ju Ji-hoon appeared shirtless.
The Remarried Empress is an epic romantic fantasy drama about Navier (Shin Min-ah), the perfect empress of the Eastern Empire. After Emperor Sovieshu (Ju Ji-hoon) falls for Rashta (Lee Se-young), a runaway slave, he demands a divorce from Navier. Rather than simply accepting his decision, Navier asks for permission to remarry Prince Heinrey (Lee Jong-suk) of the Western Kingdom.

The series is based on the popular web novel of the same name by author Alphatart, which has accumulated 2.97 billion views worldwide. Expectations and concerns surrounding the adaptation had coexisted since the production stage, and its release on November 3 immediately sparked a wide range of reactions from viewers. While the cast’s performances and visuals have received praise, opinions remain divided over the costumes and set designs.
