JYP Entertainment has donated 300 million KRW, or about 225,000 USD, to help victims affected by the devastating earthquake in Venezuela. On June 26, JYP announced that the donation was delivered to World Vision to support emergency relief work in the disaster-hit region.
The powerful earthquake struck Venezuela on June 24 and was followed by several aftershocks that caused widespread destruction. Within two days of the disaster, reports said the death toll had risen above 900. More than 3,000 people were injured, while over 4,000 residents lost their homes and were forced to leave their communities, AllKPop reported.
According to JYP, the donation will be used to provide emergency food, daily necessities, clean water, sanitation support, and emotional care for children and families affected by the earthquake.
“We hope to offer even a small measure of help to the children and residents who lost their homes due to the unexpected disaster,” the company shared in a statement. “We sincerely hope the affected areas regain stability as soon as possible, and that everyone safely returns to daily life.”
The company’s response quickly drew attention from fans online, many of whom praised JYP for continuing its long history of humanitarian support during global emergencies.
JYP Entertainment Donates Over $7.5 Million
JYP has regularly participated in relief efforts rather than making one-time donations.
Over the past year alone, the agency contributed more than 1.1 billion KRW toward recovery projects connected to the Myanmar earthquake, large-scale wildfires in South and North Gyeongsang, and a major fire in Hong Kong.
The company has also donated to several major disasters in recent years. In 2023, JYP provided 500 million KRW for relief efforts following the Türkiye-Syria earthquake.
In 2022, it donated 300 million KRW to support wildfire recovery efforts in Gangwon and North Gyeongsang.
According to SportsKhan, during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the agency contributed 500 million KRW to help prevent the spread of the virus.
Beyond disaster relief, JYP continues to operate its EDM campaign, which stands for “Every Dream Matters.” The project focuses on helping children and teenagers receive medical treatment and support.
According to the company, JYP has donated more than 10 billion KRW, or roughly 7.5 million USD, since 2020 through various corporate social responsibility programs. Those efforts have reportedly helped more than 4,300 children across Korea and other regions worldwide.
