Chinese actress Jing Tian has become the center of renewed attention after a businessman reportedly filed a lawsuit against her and her parents in a property dispute involving more than 30 million yuan (approximately $4.2 million).
According to iFeng on the evening of August 27, a lawyer representing businessman Su Yuchen confirmed that legal proceedings had been initiated against Jing Tian and her parents. The court has accepted the case in accordance with legal procedures. The plaintiff has also reportedly requested that the court impose asset preservation measures on the defendants. However, the case has not yet entered the formal trial stage, and there is currently no final judgment.
Following the court’s acceptance of the case, Jing Tian’s side reportedly filed an objection concerning the court’s jurisdiction. The request is currently under review, meaning the legal dispute remains at a preliminary stage.

A representative for Su Yuchen urged all parties to respect legal procedures, approach the dispute objectively and wait for the final outcome reflected in legally effective judicial documents.
According to Sohu, the news nevertheless quickly became a trending topic on Weibo, bringing renewed scrutiny to Jing Tian’s reputation. The actress has faced a number of rumors in recent months and has repeatedly denied allegations surrounding her personal life.
On the evening of August 27, Jing Tian’s studio released a statement addressing the controversy. The studio emphasized that reputation is particularly important to public figures but can also become a vulnerability that others attempt to exploit. Jing Tian’s team said it would not tolerate anyone using the actress’s reputation for personal gain. The studio also stated that it would follow the law and relevant legal procedures and allow the court to resolve the dispute. “Apart from informing the public about developments in the process of protecting our rights, we will not respond to any other questions.” The statement did not provide further details about the financial dispute.

Speaking to iFeng, an entertainment lawyer surnamed Li highlighted an important aspect of the statements from both sides. According to the lawyer, neither side appears to have completely ruled out the possibility that there was previously some form of transaction or economic connection between the parties. However, that does not mean that the allegations concerning the disputed money have been established as fact.
The lawyer explained that if a defendant completely denied having any legal relationship or financial transaction with the plaintiff, they could ordinarily make a direct denial on that point. Instead, the disputed funds could potentially have taken various forms, including gifts, investments or profit-sharing arrangements. Consequently, questions such as whether the money must be returned, how much should be repaid, and whether the circumstances could constitute unjust enrichment or fraud would ultimately need to be determined by the court.
The lawyer also stressed that publicly available information about the case remains limited. Both sides should therefore wait for a judicial ruling rather than drawing conclusions from unverified information circulating online.

The latest lawsuit has also revived discussion surrounding a series of rumors about Jing Tian’s private life. Since April, an anonymous source claiming to have connections within the Chinese entertainment industry alleged that an actress known for having an “innocent” image had asked a wealthy boyfriend to pay for a surrogacy arrangement.
According to the allegations, the woman initially requested a $100,000 deposit, before the businessman allegedly transferred 30 million yuan to her. The source further claimed that the man arranged a private jet to take the actress to the United States. The allegations stated that she later cited fatigue on the day of egg retrieval and requested additional money. After the businessman allegedly refused, she blocked his contact and returned to China.
In May, the same source circulated what was purported to be an agreement from an overseas surrogacy agency containing a signature bearing the name Jing Tian. The source also linked the alleged 30 million yuan payment to descriptions such as “nutrition expenses” and “support fees,” according to iFeng. Jing Tian’s studio strongly denied the allegations at the time, describing the claims as malicious fabrications.

On August 27, another report claimed that the mysterious businessman mentioned in the earlier surrogacy rumors could be Justin Sun, the founder of blockchain platform Tron. The claim quickly attracted attention on Chinese social media. However, there is currently no confirmed legal evidence establishing a connection between Jing Tian and Justin Sun in the newly reported lawsuit. The lawyer’s statement on August 27 only confirmed that Sun Yuchen had filed a lawsuit against Jing Tian and her parents over a property dispute involving more than 30 million yuan.
The case has yet to be tried, and no final judgment has been issued. Therefore, allegations concerning Jing Tian’s financial relationship with the businessman, the alleged surrogacy arrangement, or the identity of the man referenced in the rumors should not be treated as established facts at this stage.
Born in 1988, Jing Tian is a prominent Chinese actress known for her work in both Chinese television and international productions. She rose to wider recognition through dramas and films including The Glory of Tang Dynasty, Rattan, and Love’s Rebellion, as well as the Hollywood blockbuster Kong: Skull Island.
The latest lawsuit represents another major controversy surrounding the actress, but with the case still pending, its ultimate impact on Jing Tian’s reputation and career remains to be seen.
