Tomoka Miyazaki has been attracting enormous attention from badminton fans thanks to her outstanding talent and impressive rise through the world rankings. Despite her young age, she has already made her mark at numerous international tournaments with her modern playing style, all-around technique and remarkable composure on the court.
Beyond winning over audiences with her talent on the badminton court, she has also captured the hearts of fans with her fresh, innocent beauty, which many have compared to that of an “anime heroine.”

Born on August 17, 2006, in Osaka, Japan, Tomoka Miyazaki is currently regarded as one of the brightest young talents in world badminton. Competing in women’s singles, she stands 1.65 meters tall, weighs around 49 kg and plays right-handed. From an early stage, she stood out for her speed, well-rounded technique and confidence beyond her years.
Although she only began competing professionally in recent years, Miyazaki has consistently made her presence felt across multiple events on the BWF World Tour and rapidly climbed into the ranks of the world’s leading players.

Miyazaki’s remarkable rise has led fans and badminton observers to describe her as one of Japan’s new-generation “badminton prodigies.” With a strong technical foundation, agile movement and persistent fighting spirit, she is expected to become part of the country’s next generation of stars, following in the footsteps of established names such as Nozomi Okuhara and Akane Yamaguchi.
Miyazaki has not only impressed audiences with her performances on the court but has also gained attention for her youthful, bright appearance and consistently energetic image.

A major turning point in Miyazaki’s career came when she won the 2022 World Junior Badminton Championships in Spain. The achievement was even more impressive because she was still a high school student at the time, yet demonstrated exceptional composure and ability against the best players of her generation. That same year, Miyazaki captured her first professional title at the Slovenia Future Series, officially opening the door to international competition.
The Osaka-born player continued her rapid development throughout 2023. After being selected for Japan’s B national team, she quickly climbed to No. 1 in the world junior rankings. Soon afterward, victory at the Indonesia Masters II, a Super 100 tournament, earned Miyazaki the first BWF World Tour title of her career. It also fueled a spectacular surge in the world rankings, taking her from outside the top 400 all the way into the top 40.

In 2024, Miyazaki further cemented her status by officially joining Japan’s A national team. The season also demonstrated her growing maturity as she captured the Orleans Masters, a Super 300 event, before producing a major surprise by reaching the final of the China Open, a Super 1000 tournament and one of the most prestigious events on the BWF World Tour. At the end of the year, she added another major achievement by winning the All Japan Badminton Championships, becoming only the fourth female high school student in history to claim the prestigious title.
After graduating from high school in 2025, Miyazaki officially entered a new chapter of her career by competing professionally for ACT Saikyo. Being able to focus fully on badminton helped her maintain a consistent position among the world’s leading women’s singles players, while she also added the Taipei Open, a Super 300 tournament, to her collection of titles.

Alongside her individual achievements, Miyazaki has also played an important role in helping Japan secure bronze medals at the Uber Cup and Sudirman Cup. As of July 2026, Tomoka Miyazaki sits firmly at No. 9 in the BWF women’s singles world rankings. With her strong technical foundation, competitive mentality and plenty of time still ahead of her, she is expected to continue challenging for major titles, particularly at future Olympic Games.
