On August 7, several media outlets reported that IU had uploaded a song by Chang Ki Ha as the background music for an Instagram post before removing it.
However, IU was still using the song from her August 6 update as of around 4 p.m. on August 7. The reports claiming that she had deleted the background music were therefore found to be incorrect. IU had kept Chang Ki Ha’s song attached to the post for roughly 24 hours.
During the same period, Chang Ki Ha posted about the upcoming release of Shatter, a short film connected to his new album, on his own Instagram account. The video featured his song “An Absurd Story,” while Chang Ki Ha also shared a post originally uploaded by CGV promoting the project as a combination of a film inspired by poetry and nine songs, inviting audiences to experience his new album in theaters ahead of its official release.
Chang Ki Ha previously introduced part of his Shatter album in short-film form at the 27th Jeonju International Film Festival in May. The approximately 30-minute film was structured around the album’s tracks playing sequentially in the background, with Chang Ki Ha himself appearing in the production. The songs featured in the film will now be officially released as part of his new album. The project was completed through an unconventional creative process connecting poetry, silent cinema and music.
IU posted a personal update on August 6, writing, “Hi, it’s been a while. I’ve been working hard.” She had recently postponed her official schedule temporarily after experiencing worsening symptoms related to a reported ear condition, and subsequently updated fans through selfies. What drew particular attention was her choice of background music: “Living the Carefree Life,” a song by Chang Ki Ha and The Faces.
IU officially confirmed her relationship with Chang Ki Ha in 2015, before announcing their breakup in 2017. She later publicly confirmed her relationship with actor Lee Jong Suk in 2022, though the two subsequently acknowledged their split this year.
Chang Ki Ha, meanwhile, confirmed his relationship with actress Yoon Ga Yi, who is 18 years younger than him, in June. The two are reportedly still in a relationship.
