Released on September 10, IU’s title track “Unknown Planet” swept the No. 1 spots on major real-time charts, including Melon HOT100, Genie TOP200 and Bugs on the day of its release. The other title track, “Dear my crazy soulmate,” also secured top positions, ranking No. 2 on Melon and Bugs and No. 3 on Genie, placing both songs firmly at the top of the charts.
The new release is also receiving an enthusiastic response overseas. “Unknown Planet” entered charts in 16 regions, including No. 1 on the iTunes Top Songs charts in Singapore and Taiwan. “Dear my crazy soulmate” also charted in nine regions, including a No. 1 ranking in Sri Lanka.

The new songs serve as pre-release tracks for IU’s upcoming sixth full-length album, with the singer personally writing the lyrics for both tracks.
“Unknown Planet” features lyrics reflecting on the memories of a past relationship, including lines about the moment love unexpectedly began, an awkward first night together, their first kiss, a song that played during the moment, a special nickname only the lover used, and the ways they reconciled after arguments. The song ultimately captures the bittersweet decision to leave behind everything they shared and move on from their love.

The music video for “Dear my crazy soulmate,” which was released alongside the single, stars veteran actresses Kim Young Ok and Na Moon Hee, along with Shim Dal Gi and Esom. Set in a prison, the video portrays a unique friendship between the characters in a humorous yet touching way.
The music video for “Unknown Planet” is scheduled to be released at midnight on September 16.
Meanwhile, IU recently ended her relationship with actor Lee Jong Suk. She subsequently postponed both her concert, originally scheduled for September, and the release of her sixth full-length album after her chronic patulous Eustachian tube condition worsened.
