On September 1, his agency Gold Medalist shared a video of Kim Soo Hyun’s interview with Indonesian private broadcaster RCTI+ on its official Instagram Story. Kim Soo Hyun appeared as a special guest on the live broadcast Mahakarya RCTI 37, held in Jakarta on August 23 to celebrate RCTI’s 37th anniversary. It marked his first official public appearance in one year and five months since suspending his activities in March last year.
In the video, Kim Soo Hyun introduced a denim jacket that he considers one of his favorite possessions before saying, “How about asking fans to recommend a character they would like to see me play?” He also named Bali as a destination he would love to visit at least once and asked viewers, “Are you curious about what’s in my bag?” before revealing some of its contents.
Although Kim Soo Hyun appeared noticeably slimmer than he did during his active period, he responded to the interview with a smile throughout.
Kim Soo Hyun halted his activities in March last year after allegations emerged that he had been in a relationship with the late Kim Sae Ron when she was still a minor and had pressured her over debt repayment.
He acknowledged that he had been in a relationship with Kim Sae Ron after she became an adult, while denying the other allegations and taking legal action.
Seongdong Police Station in Seoul decided not to forward the cases against Kim Soo Hyun involving alleged violations of the Child Welfare Act and false accusation charges, concluding that there was insufficient evidence to establish the allegations.
Kim Se Ui, the head of the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute (Gaseyeon), which raised the allegations, has been indicted and is currently in detention. He faces charges including defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act, violations of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, and violations of the Stalking Punishment Act.
Investigators determined that the voice recordings released by Gaseyeon had been manipulated using artificial intelligence (AI), while the KakaoTalk conversations were also found to have been fabricated.
Kim Soo Hyun resumed his activities in July with a commercial for a Philippine brand. He is also scheduled to hold a fan meeting for approximately 20,000 fans in the Philippines in October.
On September 19, Kim Soo Hyun will appear as a presenter at the 2026 The Fact Music Awards, which will be held at Busan Asiad Main Stadium.
