An idol and an actor have both addressed long standing dating rumors surrounding the pair.
After appearing together on the Chinese variety show Memories Beyond Horizon, dating rumors began to surface between Liu Xie Ning (also known as Sally from Gugudan) and He Yu.
In 2023, private videos were accidentally uploaded to Liu Xie Ning’s social media, sparking more rumors. At the time, her side explained the videos were mistakenly posted and were from a gathering with friends. However, sightings of the two together continued to fuel the speculation.
In particular, in 2024, dating rumors intensified after footage emerged of both allegedly heading to the same residence and seemingly sharing a kiss indoors. Nevertheless, neither side officially confirmed they were dating.
Later that year in October, Liu Xie Ning sparked breakup rumors by leaving, then deleting, a purple heart emoji in response to a fan’s request to send one if they had broken up. In January of this year, Chinese paparazzi claimed the two had “100% broken up,” but no official statements were made.
Finally, on August 6th, Liu Xie Ning’s work studio posted on their Weibo, “Focused on shooting! Single! Don’t bother!” He Yu’s side also stated, “He is single, don’t bother. We have already secured evidence against the spread of false information and defamation.”
Liu Xie Ning debuted in 2016 as a member of Gugudan and re-debuted in 2020 as a member of the project girl group BonBon Girls 303 after placing sixth on the Chinese audition program Produce Camp 2020. Gugudan disbanded in 2020, and she is currently pursuing her acting career in China under the name Liu Xie Ning.
