Recently, the YouTube channel 12F uploaded an episode of Open for Business titled “Three Seconds Is All I Need to Steal Your Girlfriend.” BTOB member Lee Changsub appeared as a guest and joined hosts Kwak Beom, Kim Ji Yu, Kim Won Hoon, and pH-1 to discuss various situations that can arise in romantic relationships.
Among the stories introduced on the show, one involving a couple in their late 20s who had been dating for three months became a particularly contentious topic. According to the story, the boyfriend would pick his girlfriend up by car whenever they went on dates and drive her all the way home afterward. His girlfriend was grateful for his thoughtfulness.
The problem began when the boyfriend started handing his own trash to his girlfriend and asking her to throw it away on her way home. As the request became a recurring habit, the girlfriend reportedly grew frustrated, saying she could not understand why she was expected to repeatedly dispose of trash she had not created. The boyfriend, meanwhile, argued that since he regularly gave her rides, she should be able to handle such a simple favor in return.
The cast members were divided after hearing the story. Lee Changsub, Kwak Beom, Kim Ji Yu, and pH-1 sympathized with the boyfriend, while Kim Won Hoon sided with the girlfriend. Lee Changsub argued that considering the boyfriend drove her around every time, throwing away some trash for him was not too much to ask. Kim Won Hoon disagreed, arguing that because the boyfriend had voluntarily chosen to give her rides, it was inappropriate to use that as a reason to make her responsible for his personal trash.
After the video was released, the comment section and various online communities were flooded with debate. Some netizens criticized the boyfriend for offering to drive his girlfriend and then expecting something in return, arguing that such behavior made the relationship feel transactional. Others said that repeatedly making the same request was little different from pressuring his girlfriend to dispose of his trash, while some criticism was also directed at the cast members who had sided with the boyfriend. On the other hand, some viewers argued that throwing away a little trash was a reasonable favor that romantic partners should be able to do for each other.
