i-dle’s Miyeon’s Health Checkup Video Sparks Controversy, Police Investigation Requested
i-dle’s Miyeon faces controversy over a health checkup video that may constitute medical advertising, prompting authorities to request a police investigation.
A YouTube video documenting i-dle member Miyeon’s health checkup has become embroiled in a controversy over potential medical advertising violations, prompting the local public health center to request a police investigation.
However, concerns were raised after the video showed details that could identify the medical institution, including the hospital’s name, medical staff, and interior facilities. This led to questions over whether the content could be considered medical advertising under South Korea’s Medical Service Act.
The production team responded to the controversy by stating that it had not received any form of financial compensation, advertising fees, sponsorship payments, or other support from the medical institution featured in the video.
The local public health center explained that it was difficult to independently determine whether the medical institution had been directly involved in producing the content or whether any form of compensation had been provided. As a result, the matter has been referred to police for further investigation.
