On September 9, Hwang Jung Eum uploaded a video titled “The Day I Learned Exercise and Mukbang From Julien Kang” to her YouTube channel.
During the video, Hwang Jung Eum began by recalling, “When I was going through a really difficult time, Julien and his wife invited me to their home.”
She continued, “I took all the kids over to play, and Julien taught my sons Wang Sik and Kang Sik how to exercise. He genuinely worried about us, and I was really grateful.”
Julien Kang calmly recalled the moment, saying, “I think of Hwang Jung Eum as a friend, so I was simply worried about how she was feeling and asked her about it.”
Hwang Jung Eum then reminisced about filming the MBC drama High Kick: Revenge of the Short Legged, which she starred in alongside Julien Kang. Expressing her affection for their longtime friendship, she said, “We worked on the same project, and we got along so well that we developed a sense of camaraderie, almost like we had been through a battle together.”
Meanwhile, Hwang Jung Eum married former professional golfer Lee Young Don in 2016, and they have two sons together. After four years of marriage, the couple filed for divorce mediation in September 2020 but reconciled in July 2021. However, just three years after their reconciliation, news broke in February 2024 that Hwang Jung Eum had filed for divorce.
In May 2025, Hwang Jung Eum was indicted on allegations of embezzling approximately 4.3 billion won from the funds of a one-person entertainment agency. She was sentenced in the first trial to two years in prison, suspended for four years. As Hwang Jung Eum did not appeal the first-trial ruling, the sentence was finalized.
