Actor Go Kyung Pyo opened up about his painful family experience during the finale of MBC’s “Nolleo Coaster,” revealing that his mother’s illness changed the way he viewed life. His emotional confession during the show’s final episode touched viewers as he shared memories of his military enlistment and the loss of his mother.
The August 2 episode marked the end of the cast’s European theme park journey. Noh Hong Chul, Choi Kang Rok, Go Kyung Pyo, and Pani Bottle looked back on their travels while sharing personal stories they had never publicly discussed before.
Go Kyung Pyo, known for bringing energy and positivity to the trip, surprised the cast when he opened up about his family for the first time.
According to ChosunBiz, he talked about the difficult period when he learned that his mother was sick before his military enlistment.
“After learning about my mother’s illness, the way I viewed life completely changed,” Go Kyung Pyo said.
The actor explained that he discovered he had high blood pressure when he was 28 and preparing to enlist. His condition was serious enough that he almost had to return home instead of beginning his military service.
“I’m not sure when I first developed high blood pressure, but I found out when I enlisted at 28. My blood pressure was so high that I was almost sent home instead of being allowed to enlist,” he shared.
Go Kyung Pyo Opens Up About Losing His Mother
Go Kyung Pyo also recalled the difficult emotions he carried at the time. He said he learned about his mother’s illness around the same period he entered the military, but he chose to continue with his enlistment because he believed he would return soon and still have time with her, AllKPop reported.
“I’ll just go and come back as quickly as possible. My mom will still be around until then. With that belief, I decided to enlist,” he said.
However, after completing his military service, Go Kyung Pyo only had about six months with his mother before she passed away on September 26, 2020. He previously expressed that she was the most important person in his life and that he wanted to live in a way that showed the love she gave him.
During the conversation, Noh Hong Chul acknowledged the heavy pain the actor had carried. Go Kyung Pyo explained that although losing his mother was heartbreaking, the experience also became a turning point that helped him appreciate life more.
“Because of that experience, my outlook on life changed a lot. Losing my mother was incredibly painful, but in a way, it also became a turning point in my life. I’m now living life to the fullest for my mother’s share as well,” he said.
Noh Hong Chul later told him that his mother must have been proud seeing his successful acting career. Go Kyung Pyo responded that he believed she was still watching over him.
