Three dramas with rural settings are currently meeting audiences: Cabbage Your Life, Sold Out on You, and Azure Spring. Although each story has a different tone, all three focus on characters who find themselves closer to nature than the noisy city.
Cabbage Your Life

In KBS2’s Cabbage Your Life, Park Sung-woong plays Sung Tae-hoon, a corporate manager who is suddenly transferred to the rural village of Yeonriri. Stuck in the countryside after an unfair personnel move, he struggles to return to Seoul but gradually experiences village life with his family.
The drama follows his wife Jo Mi-ryeo, played by Lee Soo-kyung, and their three sons as they adjust to a new environment filled with stubborn locals, unexpected emotions, and small moments of warmth. The series is described as a healing family drama about rediscovering the meaning of family and human connection. However, ratings have been disappointing. Cabbage Your Life began with 2.7% on March 26 but dropped to 1.6% by episode 8 on May 14, according to Nielsen Korea. The 12-episode drama airs every Thursday at 9:50 PM.
Sold Out on You

SBS’s Sold Out on You brings romance to the countryside. Ahn Hyo-seop stars as Matthew Lee, a perfectionist farmer who owns a 10,000-pyeong land and mushroom farm in Deokpung Village. Chae Won-bin plays Dam Ye-jin, a workaholic home shopping host who needs Matthew’s rare white flower nuri mushrooms.
As Ye-jin repeatedly visits Deokpung Village, she becomes connected not only to Matthew but also to the local residents. The drama mixes rural life, business, and unpredictable romance. The series drew attention as Ahn Hyo-seop’s next project after voicing Jinu in Netflix’s animated film KPop Demon Hunters. It started with 3.3% ratings but spent several weeks in the 2% range before returning to 3.1% with episode 9 on May 20. The 12-episode drama airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 9 PM.
Azure Spring

Meanwhile, MBN Plus’s Azure Spring takes viewers to the sea. Starring Red Velvet’s Kim Ye-rim, also known as Yeri, and Kang Sang-joon, the drama tells the story of Seo Anna and Yoon Deok-hyun in the seaside village of Parangri. Anna is a former swimmer whose dream was destroyed by injury, while Deok-hyun is a former special forces member living as a male diver after being surrounded by rumors.
Based on a webtoon of the same name, Azure Spring combines the words “azure,” meaning blue, and “spring,” symbolizing youth. The drama follows two wounded young people as they become haenyeo and haenam, finding comfort and growth through the sea. The series was filmed around major islands in Tongyeong, giving the drama a fresh coastal atmosphere. Azure Spring premiered on May 11 and has 6 episodes, airing every Monday and Tuesday at 11 PM.
From cabbage fields to mushroom farms and deep blue waters, these dramas show that 2026 K-dramas are not only chasing big city romance or office conflicts. Instead, they are turning to rural spaces for healing, growth, and quieter emotional stories.
